Nirav Sha, New York State Health Commissioner has banned the sale of Bath Salts. He said that these are equivalent to cocaine and methamphetamines when they are consumed in higher quantities.

It has been reported that the amphetamine-type substance has resulted in many medical cases nationwide.

"These chemicals marketed as bath salts are a growing and dangerous threat to the public health, and this action to end the sale and distribution of these harmful substances is a critical step needed to stop the proliferation of these drugs here in New York state", Shah said in a statement.

Medical experts have reported that this substance is sold in small conventional stores. This drug causes hallucinations, paranoia, delusions, suicidal behavior, violent activities, chest pain, and high blood pressure.

Monday onwards, immediate ban has been imposed on the selling of bath salts to protect the public from the abuse.

Health experts claimed that this product causes similar abuse like cocaine and amphetamines.

The medical experts have previously warned the people from using this drug but now as the situation is becoming alarming the Department of Health have permanently banned the selling of this product to save the citizens from abuse.
