After Avian Flu, It’s Time for Pigeon Flu

Terror of bird flu has not gone and other rare flu has made its maiden entry in Australia. This flu is found in pigeons and it is the first time that the flu has affected Australian pigeons.

The flu is named as avian paramyxovirus and has affected large number of pigeons in Victoria and due to that lot chicken breeding has been destroyed.

In order to prevent further loss, the government has asked the Victorian animal care authorities to assess the problem and also keep a tab on the condition of pigeons as well as on poultry.

As per the head of Australian veterinary official Mark Schipp, the main symptoms of the flu is tiredness, and in rare cases they also show some neurological signs like moving in circles for long time and before dying they flip their necks. He assured that the virus would not spread to humans and there is very little chance of that occurrence and that rare chance is also only possible if one stays in proximity with the pigeons or poultry for long hours.
