‘Bejeweled Blitz’ To Cure Brain Lethargy among Aged People

It seems that overlooking the perception that video games can significantly affect the mental ability of a human mind, a recent survey report being discussed at the American Psychological Association’s annual convention caught the attention of one and all.

The game selected was Bejeweled Blitz which can only be attempted by people with strong cognitive skills. The sample group was reported to have been recruited from a blog posting on the Psychology Today website.

Funded by PopCap, the survey was done by Massachusetts Amherst psychology researcher Susan K. Whitbourne, Ph. D. on 10,000 U. S. adults, and it found that playing PopCap Games’ Bejeweled Blitz makes aged people mentally receptive.

Furthermore, the study found that nearly 47% and that to over the age of 50 were observed to be more confident about completing range of tasks, while 23.9% participants over the age of 65 were found to have developed the tendency to see patterns.

So far research work has been done in the field, but not even a single study has indicated that video games could have such profound effects on the mental ability of humans and that to over the age of 50.

As the research is making reverberations in the contours of medical fraternity, it’s being believed that extensive research is required to be done in the field to make conclusive statements.
