With Christmas approaching next month, there seems to be a sudden rise in efforts to escalate awareness for dementia as people would meet for a long weekend at that time. It has always been said that family members must be conscious about any change coming in the life of elders and do the needful at the right point of the time.
As the government too shares the same set of concerns, advertising drives are all set to catch the attention of one and all in England. This is what even the Department of Health is saying so that any such suspected concern of dementia is being handled timely.
Dementia is a huge challenge for governments across the world and that's why it's being given so much of attention. The health experts are by and large of the view that family members must not let the condition of their family members go to such an extent that things become a lot difficult for the elders.
With dementia being a dreadful name in the first place, there would hardly be anyone who would like to go through this turmoil.
There have been reports which indicate that the Alzheimer's Society's helpline has notified an increase in the number of complaints during Christmas. Even it had a recorded a high of 43%complaints this January.
"If their memory is going, if they're getting confused, if they have sudden mood changes, that's the time to say 'maybe you should see your doctor'", said Chief Executive Jeremy Hughes, who is of the opinion that it's always better to share such concerns in the first place.
If reports are to be believed, over 800,000 people in the UK have dementia and many others are still suffering under this. Though there is no cure as of now, the best thing which could be done is to ensure that such concerns are not overlooked and preferably reported to the right authority.
