Movember Charm Continues

Movember is dedicated to raise awareness about prostate cancer and its members hope that with passage of time, this movement would also become immensely popular in the world.

For now, its popularity rating against women’s breast cancer awareness campaign is quite low, but Movember advocates are determined to make it a known movement.

Recently, an event was organized where a Boeing 737-800 was being decorated with nose-cone moustache. It was done in order to spread awareness about prostate cancer and its link with November.

It was in 2007, when Movember movement was imbibed from Australia and since then it has been celebrated across the countries with great vigor.

There were some 30 men, who initiated the movement of Movember in the US. These men decided among themselves that they would have a mustache growing contest and would take comments from other people.

Soon they realized that their moustache has become talk of the town and suddenly, this idea come into their minds that why not to utilize it for public health. Since then, this movement is celebrated in the US to raise funds for prostate cancer and also to raise awareness about the cancer.

In 2010, 1,400 participants in Georgia raised $160,905 for the cause and this year, they are expecting the amount to double. It is very important to raise awareness about the cancer as it affects one man in the group of six.

The U. S. Country Manager for Movember, Donny Killian said till last year 450,000 participants across the globe have become its member and they helped to raise $81 million for the noble cause.

There is one more community, which is doing great efforts to raise funds and awareness about the cancer, and that organization being “Mo Bros". If one wants to be part of the group, he could register online and could even make donations, which would straightway go to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
