BMA Recommends Smoking Ban in Cars

While smokers are trying hard to accept the fact that they cannot smoke in public places, here comes yet another shocker from the British Medical Association (BMA) that smoking in cars must be prohibited also. It has been told that there are significant chances of getting affected from the side effects of smoking if smoking is being done in enclosed spaces like cars. Even a recent research has shown that the `level of toxins in a car can be up to 23 times higher than in a smoky bar'.

While active smoking has been damaging, passive smoking is told to have another set of drawbacks. Though there is no consensus on the same as of now, outrage from smokers is quite obvious.

There are many who feel that smoking is equally a distraction as a mobile while driving, and thus imposing ban is not that bad. The impact of passive smoking is being handled by young kids the most and there is escalated need to put efforts in the direction of giving the best possible environment to kids. However, there are some smokers who are of the opinion that by imposing ban on smoking in cars, their privacy is being breached.

There are significant chances that kids could suffer from range of breathing issues and till the time consistent efforts are not made, looming danger of smoking would always hover above the head.

With the NHS shouldering £5bn a year on treating smoking related illnesses, there are fair chances that till a significant improvement is smoking rate is not seen, things would become a lot difficult to manage. It would take due course of time to bring all sections of the society on same platform to favor smoking ban in cars.

As the report is getting the attention of one and all, largely it is being believed that the government needs to take stern measure to address the percolating concern of smoking.
