Labour has increased its chances to get re-elected in next election by saying that if they would come in power next time then they would not let the NHS go in private hands.
The Shadow Health Secretary, Andy Burnham, made this announcement and affirmed, "Labour will inherit a very different NHS - lots of damage will have already been done. And let me make it clear - if the bill in parliament goes through, we will repeal it".
There is no doubt in the fact that with his statement he had won hearts of medical staff and of unions, who do not want to get the Health and Social Health Care Bill pass. Burnham said he would not let anyone to play with the image of the NHS.
The NHS has been and would remain a national system as it was in 1948, when it was founded. Not only Burnham spoke, but he pledged that he would not let the NHS to get privatized.
Burnham was present at the Royal College of Midwives's Annual Conference in Brighton. He was addressing delegates and there only he made this announcement. His pledge would surely give shock to opposition Health Secretary Leader Andrew Lansley, who is determined to get his bill passed.
Half of his work is done as the bill has been approved by the House of Commons and has been sent to House of Lords for final approval.
There is great possibility that the NHS bill does not get passed as recently a report got published in the British Medical Journal, which clearly stated that he is, Andrew Lansley, who is maligning the image of the NHS and that too for his personal benefit.
After getting acquainted with speech, Andrew Lansley team was of the view that Burnham does not want the NHS to progress and wants to keep it in 1940 era.
