Wednesday saw a landmark launch for MySpaceID, a service that allows users to link their personal profiles to any Web site. By the means of the new application, launched by MySpace on the test version of Yahoo's new home page, users would be able to access MySpace via Yahoo.
With the new functionality facilitating user activities to be streamed to any Web site, MySpace information would be filtered by type - like events, photos, music and others. By using their username and password, users can log in not only to MySpace, but also to partner websites allowing MySpace ID.
While an earlier MySpace ID functionality helped locate MySpace friends on a partner site, the new enhancement makes MySpace the first social network biggie to have the full "Open Stack" for information flow to partner websites founded on fully open Web standards.
Elaborating on the new functionality, senior VP Jason Oberfest, also general manager of the MySpace Open Platform, said: "The MySpace App adds new social functionality to the Yahoo experience by using MySpaceID to connect Yahoo users to their MySpace network. By logging into MySpace from the new App on the Yahoo homepage, users get quick access to their MySpace friend updates, friend requests, and can manage their MySpace status, mood and more - all while catching up on their other activities on Yahoo!"
