20 Cancer Cases in Women with Flawed Implants

French health officials have recently claimed that there are now as many as 20 verified cancer cases among woman with imperfect breast implants, though they assert that there are not many confirmed associations between the two.

Earlier during the month, it was announced by the French Government that it will be paying for more than 30,000 women so that they can get rid of the faulty implants being experienced by them after going through the Poly Implant Prothese (PIP).

It has now thoroughly been confirmed that the implants were containing non-medical grade silicone filler that are potentially dangerous for the human body and as a result of it, all those women who went through faulty implants were highly susceptible towards having a critical rupture.

AFSSAPS, the French consumer health agency, earlier claimed that with effect from December 28, it has successfully registered around 15 incidents of breast adenocarcinoma, which is apparently one of the most widespread and common forms of breast cancer. Among the confirmed cases, two cases were down to lymphoma, one case dealt with breast lymphoma, one reported lung cancer and acute myelogenous leukemia also invaded one of the women who have gone through breast implants of late.

However, the agency remained stubborn on the point that no bonding had been found between cases related to PIP implants and cancer.

It claimed that the frequency of breast cancer among women having PIP implants confirmed up to now “remains lower than the rate observed in the general population”.

While expressing his opinion in this regard, Dominique Maraninchi, the agency chief, revealed the figures related to the general population, especially claiming that “one woman in 10 has, has had or will have breast cancer”.

As per stats, in excess of 400,000 women all over the world have got the sub-standard or faulty implants by PIP.
