Refrain from Fireworks During New Year Celebration, urges Government
No Fireworks During New Year Celebration, urges Government

The Government has been continuously urging the people not to involve dangerous fireworks, including gunfire, in their celebrations. The festive season is ongoing and thus to make maximum people aware of the dangers that are attached to the fireworks, the governments of many different regions are running scare campaigns against reckless holiday revelries urging people to not include any risks to their celebrations.

But despite government's sincere efforts, people are opting for the fireworks. As was government scared of any mishappening, an accident has recently happened in Philippines due to the set off of illegally huge fireworks and celebrity gunfire injuring more than 200 people in the incident, confirms a Philippine official.

The maximum hurt in the incident are children. According to reports, stray bullets were fired during the celebration and wounded approx eight people whereas 197 others got injured from the powerful firecrackers that were set off during the event celebration that ran from December 21-30, Health Assistant Secretary Mr. Enrique Tayag said in his statement.

The officials are afraid that the number of injuries don't rise further (chances of which are very low) following the superstitious Chinese behavior that most of the Filipinos carry while bidding goodbye to a year that saw many natural disasters and economic uncertainties (Chinese tradition says that saying goodbye to the last year with loud noises drive off all the evil and misfortune).

The officials are undoubtedly putting in their best efforts to halt the violent tradition as is followed in the region. As one of the similar efforts they have issued warnings to revelers upon risking amputations if in any case they got hurt from lighting up of huge firecrackers.

"Doctors are waiting with surgical saws, bone cutters and drills in case your fingers need to be amputated", Tayag told ABS-CBN network to dissuade illegal fireworks. "I hope this won't happen".
