While life is becoming stressful for many, sleeping disorders have become quite common now. However, little is known that insufficient sleep could affect one to significant level not just physically but mentally also. There are many who despite suffering from insomnia doesn’t feel bothered to report such concerns to their doctors, thereby elongating the health concern.
As far as reasons are concerned, it has been found that excessive emotional baggage which most of the people carry is found to be the common root cause of disturbed sleep. There is need for people to understand that there could be range of side effects if someone is undermining reason behind improper sleep.
On the same lines, Charles Morin from Laval University in Quebec City has called on for such affected people to report their concerns to their doctors instead of overlooking the same. It was told that there are nearly 25% of adults who are reeling under such sleeping issues and around 6 to 10% are suffering from sleeping disorders. Such facts must not be overlooked and should be acted upon to address the concern which is largely being ward off as a common problem.
The author is of the say that such people are as high as five times more likely to face anxiety and depression and even more than two times at a risk of being diagnosed with diabetes and can even develop concerns related with heart. While such extended health concerns are being linked with improper sleep, there must be initiative taken from the side of sufferers also.
The worst part is that many such affected ones take commonly prescribed drugs such as antidepressants and antihistamines to get it self-treated which further make them more susceptible to side effects. There is still lot to be done to ensure that such concerns are not put under carpet and being brought up to get treated by health experts.
