Every year a large chunk of money is invested over the research of cancer, however, it has been found by the cancer charity groups that all the invested money goes to waste as no fruitful research to cure cancer has been conducted.
It has been informed that the investment in the cancer research is not proportional as in many cases it has found that cancer which doesn't lead to death of large people get generous funding but the deadliest cancer researchers are halted because of lack of funding.
Lung cancer, which takes away 20% of the lives in Australia, gets only 1% of the total research funding. Therefore, the researchers have not been able to come up with the effective treatment of cancer.
Similarly, women cancer which includes breast cancer, cervical cancer and ovarian cancer gets generous funding. It has been informed that melanoma, leukaemia and women's cancer gets 70% of the funding.
It has been alleged that the investment in the Australia country is not proportionate to the cancer cases. Therefore, the government has been urged to take the necessary steps so that adequate funds and grants are provided to the cancer research units.
It has been found by the Cancer Institute NSW that only 158 organisations provide financial support to the cancer research units of the Australia. Cancer is a deadly disease which affects millions. Therefore, strategies are required to be drafted so that cancer patients could be saved from succumbing to death.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that SA Government and Cancer Council have joined hands to boost cancer researches. Professor Steve Wesselingh from the SA Health and Medical Research Institute said, "The partnership will enable us to seek better treatments, cures and even ways to prevent this disease".
