A ship that attracted attention because of norovirus outbreak has been disinfected and is all ready to sail from South Florida. It has been informed that the passengers of Princess Cruise Lines became the victim of norovirus when 92 passengers and 13 crew members reported of having stomach pain, diarrhea and vomiting.
Following the outbreak of the norovirus, the ship was returned to Port Everglades, where it had been disinfected. After being disinfected, the ship is all set to sail with new passengers. Another ship Crown Princess has also raised alarm, as its crew members and passengers reported of illness. But, the illness has not yet been identified.
However, the ship has been disinfected successfully. It has been informed that both the ships were carrying passengers more than 3,000. It is for the third time when American cruise ship has been reported of being infected.
The ongoing stomach infection cases had caused delay in the voyage. But the good part of the story is that the ships have been successfully disinfected that means further cases of stomach infection from norovirus won't be reported.
Norovirus is a notorious virus that affects the digestion process of a victim. Although the virus lasts for only couple of days, the consequences of it could be threatening. The virus is contagious and can spread through slight contact with the infected person.
People travelling through ship and other public transport vehicles are being urged to maintain hygiene practices so that the virus could be prevented. Raoult Ratard, an epidemiologist said, "In a closed space like a cruise ship, in a nursing home, in a hospital, you want to be extra careful. But the 3,000, they're all over the place".
