Komen Struck Amid Controversy

Komen for the Cure has enjoyed a special place in the hearts of people and have been known to raise funds to fight breast cancer. Number of volunteers joined the nonprofit organization thinking it is the best way to contribute to the society.

Businesses, various organizations and people donated money trusting that their contribution will reach at the right place. There is no doubt that the organization has done endless efforts to raise funds for various reasons and has enjoyed trust in the eyes of people.

However, now things have taken a toll and situation has gone upside down. Since, Komen has detached itself from Planned Parenthood, and now they are receiving criticism. Komen has clearly told that they would not provide any further funding to Planned Parenthood.

There was a time when Komen received a lot of praise from the government as well as from general and influential people of the society. Avoiding unwanted pregnancy is the main aim of Planned Parenthood and it’s a big problem across the globe. Its efforts to reduce the increasing teenage pregnancy rate have been on decline and liberals, independents, moderate Republicans and conservatives have appreciated Planned Parenthood for the success.

Komen said that they have detached from Planned Parenthood as they have adopted anti-abortion movement. The situation seems to be contradictory when Komen received numerous calls criticizing the recent action.

In fact, those people who were against abortion have spoken in the favor of Planned Parenthood. The current situation of Komen is that they have been receiving calls from most conservative places just to tell that Komen has done biggest mistake.

Many organizations and people have taken back their support and have asked to refund their donations. They no longer want to be associated with Komen.
