Donate Blood, You Never Know When You Might Need It
Matthew-Hansford

In a recent horrific incident, it was revealed that a boy, 16, had had a terrible scooter crash. The doctors had given only 2% survival chances for him. The accident had occurred when he had had to crash into a telegraph pole, trying to avoid a fox. It was his new scooter which he had only got a day before, and he was really excited about riding it.

The name of the boy is Matthew Hansford, and his life could be saved after 37 pints of blood transfer. He was in a very critical condition and had damaged his heart, lung, ribs and lungs. There had been a lot of blood loss as well, and this is the reason there was need for so much blood to save his life

The problem was that the blood wasn’t being accepted by the body, and was coming out as soon as it was being inserted in his body.

There were four major surgeries he had to undergo, and there was a long time of three months he took to recover from his near-death experience. The prayers of friends and family saved his life.

“It’s difficult but I’m getting better little by little. I can’t walk unaided for any distance and I still have blood clot issues in my heart area. The main thing is I’m still here and I’m determined to get better”, he said in a statement given after recovering.

This incident further urges on the need for more and more blood donations to be made by one and all. Today it was this boy, but tomorrow it can be anyone close to one of us who might face a terrible accident or illness and would need blood. There is a need for one and all to donate blood to save lives.
