It has been recently revealed by the US Justice Department and the European Commission that the Motorola firm has been now cleared of the condition that has been previously put on them. According to the condition, the firm would be allowed to function peacefully if it made its patent available at terms that are non-discriminatory, fair and reasonable, and the prices were fair.
It was further revealed that the EC is of the view that this deal of $12.5 billion wouldn't do much for the competition and wouldn't tend to bog it down in any way. This is because the firm Google has pulled up its socks for making all efforts of incentives that will help boost their sales of the new Android operating system.
"We have approved the acquisition of Motorola Mobility by Google because, upon careful examination, this transaction does not itself raise competition issues", said Joaquin Almunia, Commission Vice President for the event.
On the other hand, it was revealed that the U. S. Justice Department is of the approval of the deal which was very similar to the terms that have now been laid. There has, however, been a warning put across to Google by them, about their licensing policies. There have been assurances cited from Microsoft and Apple for the standard essential patent licensing policies being used by them.
There is need for common grounds to be met by all the firms and licensing, so that they can function peacefully. The EC has further warned Google that this decision given out by them doesn't mean compulsorily that Google is currently below the anti-trust law by the EU. It's a matter of time to see what the events turn out to be like in the future.
