Sex Offenders Removed from Gaming Sites

As per recent reports, it has been unveiled that the game platforms will no longer entertain sex offenders. It has been declare that 3,500 registered sex offenders were thrown out from the online game platform.

The rule was actually implemented by the Attorney General, Eric T. Schneiderman, who didn’t want the platform to be misused by the offenders. In a meeting held with the gaming companies, including Microsoft, Sony and Apple, he adjured them to remove such people from their gaming sites.

Schneiderman said, “We must ensure online video game systems do not become a digital playground for dangerous predators. This will help prevent prey on underage victims”.

He asserted that many cases have been registered so far, in which these offenders have misused the voice and text chat functions in online gaming services to lure underage victims across the country

However, their removal has only been possible due to the law that the New York State had introduced, under which all the sex offenders have to register themselves and also provide with all necessary information including the e-mail addresses etc. then this information is passed over to major sites.

The companies that participated in this project launched were Microsoft, Apple, Blizzard Entertainment, Electronic Arts, Disney Interactive Media Group, Warner Brothers and Sony.
