Men under the Risk of Developing Parkinson's disease Must Consume Flavonoids Ric

In a recent study published in the journal Neurology this week, it has been mentioned that now most of men can reduce their risk of developing Parkinson's disease by regularly consuming foods that are rich in flavonoids. These food items include berries, apples, certain vegetables, tea and red wine. The minds behind this research are of Dr. Xiang Gao, who is a nutrition research scientist at Harvard School of Public Health in the US, and Dr. Aedin Cassidy, who is a Professor of nutrition at University of East Anglia's Norwich Medical School in the UK.

One can find these flavonoids naturally occurring in many plant-based foods and drinks. These bioactive compounds are quite effectual for reducing the risk of Parkinson’s disease in men; these do not provide any benefit to women.

According to this study, particularly it is a sub-section of flavonoids that is also known as anthocyanins which brings in the most effective results. And these are present in berries like blackcurrants and blackberries, and also in a group of some fruits and vegetables, like aubergines.

Other than Parkinson’s disease, a regular consumption of certain flavonoids also helps in reducing the risk of other human diseases; like high blood pressure, heart disease, dementia, and even some types of cancers.

Well, this is for the first time, that scientists have discovered compounds for protecting neurons against brain diseases. As said by Cassidy, "This is the first study in humans to look at the associations between the range of flavonoids in the diet and the risk of developing Parkinson's disease and our findings suggest that a sub-class of flavonoids called anthocyanins may have neuroprotective effects".

This neurological disease kills certain cells in the brain and affects the ability of responding quickly. The effective person takes quite longer in doing things. The symptoms of Parkinson’s disease are tremor, rigidity and slowness of movement, and all these symptoms get worsen with time.
