It has been recently revealed in a report that an all new MRI technique is soon going to be made available for the detection of prostate cancer in men. It was revealed that there has been the use of MRI for the detection of the disease in men earlier, but till now, there has not been a proper reliable form found. This is one of the times the doctors are sure that the new MRI available for the prostate cancer suspected patients might work
"It is in the patient's best interest for caregivers to acknowledge perceptions and expectations during treatment decision process. They should take specific demographics, socioeconomic status, and sexual preference into consideration, and tailor an approach based on a patient's specific concerns about implications of various treatments", revealed co-author of the study Edouard J. Trabulsi, M. D., of the Department of Urology.
It was further revealed that according to statistical analysis it has been found that African Americans have a higher risk of contracting the disease. Even the risk of death due to the disease is more in them. It was further found that they tend to have an increased risk of bowel and urinary dysfunction; also their general wellness rates are lower.
There is need for more efforts to be made for making men aware about how they can protect themselves from the onset of the disease. There is also need for the right sort of advice given to them about the diagnosis of the disease in the time to come.
It remains to be seen whether this new form of MRI scan is going to be able to help the people in need in the time to come, and help in the prevention and early diagnosis of the disease.
