Store staff help raise charity cash

Employees at a Droitwich Spa store have recently joined forces with cancer charity Macmillan Cancer Support, in an attempt to raise funds for the cause.

The launch of the partnership effort between Macmillan Cancer Support and the employees at Wilkinson, based in St Andrews Square, was celebrated with a series of fundraising events at which an amount of over $580 was raised.

To show their support for the cancer charity – which works for improving the lives of people fighting with cancer -, the team members held a charity exercise bike ride in store.

The team members raised more than £330 while cycling the equivalent of as many as 123 miles. In addition, a tea party was also held in the store during the jubilee weekend, at which over £250 were raised.

Noting that Wilkinson was pleased to extend its support to Macmillan Cancer Support, the store’s manager Sarah Kerlew said that the team members had nominated the cancer charity as the “regional charity of the year.”

Further adding that the store employees have always been “avid charity supporters and have supported Children’s Hospices UK, Anthony Nolan and Age UK”, and that it was now delighted at the thought of supporting Macmillan Cancer Support within its region, Kerlew said: “We can’t wait to raise even more money for them so that we can help make a difference in our local community.”
