Trials for polypill, the so-called wonder pill, are still under their way. A pill that will contain several drugs, including those for regulating blood pressure and also those for reducing cholesterol levels, has been proposed on the pretext that it will increase survival rate.
It has been subjected that the pill will reduce the mortality rates associated with heart attacks and stroke. It has claimed that it will increase the survival years by 11. However, it has been revealed that the pill will have to be taken daily. Now all benefits of the pill kept apart, consider the other side of the coin.
By the time a person reaches old age, their memory declines significantly, now the question arises, will they remember to take the pill daily?
Another aspect is that already life expectancy in UK is above 80 years; 11 years more means approximately 91 years. This surely has raised several questions:
At this age what would be their mental and physical state? For sure it would have deteriorated to a major extent.
Who will look after them and provide them with proper care and support? Above all who will fund them?
These medical researchers no doubts have done wonders by introducing the pill, but at the same time they failed to acknowledge the other aspects related.
