Recent reports have revealed that Sunshine Heart has been finally able to produce with positive results for its C-Pulse Heart Assist System trials, which were carried out for a year. It has been reported that the device has been able to show up with significant results in case of preliminary 20 patients, which is being believed to be enough for the device to be recommended by the health regulators in US.
Detailed reports of the 12-month extended follow-up, exhibit improvement in NYHA Class reduction, MLWHF Quality of Life scores and 6 Minute Hall Walk. All these are major methods deployed to analyze treatments for heart ailments.
It has been stated that even earlier in November, results for the initial six-month follow up were presented, which also showed positive trends.
Sunshine Heart asserted that the first two-year follow-up has been accomplished, with first patient obtaining C-Pulse system during the feasibility trial.
Dr. Andrew Kao, a heart failure cardiologist at St Luke's Hospital affirmed that the patient has shown tremendous recovery after the implantation of the device.
Dr. Kao said, "The first time I met him, he could not walk or even say a few words without extreme perspiration and shortness of breath".
However, after being assisted with the device, he is able to perform many activities.
