Obesity Epidemic Being Looked Upon As a Timebomb

In the past few years, obesity has turned out to be a major concern. The problem has been linked to almost every major health ailment, including heart problems, diabetes, etc.

As the trend follows, even young children are seen to be a victim of this epidemic.

Majority of the people have started following the same lifestyle, which includes lots of eating, especially junk food and least or no exercise or physical activity, they have instead become lazy.

As a result, at present one-fifth of children are considered as obese, one-fifth of young women are also in the same category and more than 25% males are also trapped in the condition.

A research published yesterday by Institute of Public Health in Ireland read: "This massive increase in the incidence of obesity is a public health timebomb".

It is being concerned that past few more years, say approximately 2020, as many as 175,000 people will be diagnosed with diabetes, a rise by 30%, which means within eight years, there will be an increase in diabetic cases by 40,000.

Diabetes, a major health ailment, which will surely pressurize the budget at that time, as it has a range of other diseases, related to it, including blindness, kidney failure etc.

An obese is more likely to develop type-2 diabetes. Hence, it's better to be healthy than obese.
