Health Board Proposals’ Impact Suspected To Spread Beyond Boundaries

Hywel Dda Health Board's proposals set for the hospitals in west Wales are subjected to have a significant impact on the communities that avail the services from the board. However, it is being expected that the implementation of the plans will have to be ultimately suffered by Hywel Dda, as it will be beyond the boundaries of Hywel Dda.

As per the proposals, Llanelli's Prince Philip Hospital will be introduced to different levels of accidental care, which will affect the services provided by A&E department of Morriston Hospital.

Residents of Llanelli find it simpler to visit to Morriston, instead of going to Carmarthen's Glangwili Hospital.

It is being planned that to build up Swansea Bay city region, which will be covering Port Talbot to Carmarthen. A strategy has been planned for its proper functioning. It has been revealed that if the strategy comes out well, then even other health services, including the trusts, will be functioning to the boundaries of the same city.

However, a health board has opposed the proposals for the restructure of the NHS in mid and west Wales.

If these proposals are implemented, then three community hospitals in Mynydd Mawr, Tregaron and Aberaeron will be closed. However, these plans have been criticized.
