Latest Invention in Quantum Technologies

Quantum entanglement is a process with the help of which a quantum computer is operated. During the process, particles like electrons and photons initially intermingle with each other and then they get alienated. This phenomenon was derived by Einstein and was named as ‘spooky action at a distance’.

But recently, it has been found that quantum entanglement is successful only in laboratory or other such ideal conditions. As soon as it exists from there, it becomes weak and ephemeral. Therefore, it could not be considered worth for this activity.

Finding a solution to this, in last few years, researchers have discovered other ways of gaining a quantum advantage and that too without entanglement. They have found new examples of technologies that can prove to be helpful.

Researchers from Australia, UK and Singapore had focused over a new technology known as quantum discord for this. This technology not only seems to be much more vigorous but can be easily accessed too. Along with this, Quantum discord tends to get easily connected so that certain quantum technologies could be brought together within easier reach than usual.

Explaining the relation between quantum discord and its quantum power, one of the study authors, Mile Gu from the National University of Singapore (NUS), said: ‘We’ve shown that quantum discord is a resource that we can tap with the right quantum tools’.
