One of the former public health advisers for Health Secretary Andrew Lansley has blamed Mr. Lansley for the growing problem of obesity. Professor Simon Capewell asserted that the Health Secretary failed to deliver his responsibilities properly.
Prof Capewell, who once was part of Mr. Lansley's Public Health Commission in opposition, has leveled allegations on Mr. Lansley that he manipulated the food industry and also didn't consider proofs, which pointed towards the growing problem of obesity.
He warns: "The Government's plan to work together with manufacturers to introduce voluntary cuts to fat, sugar and salt levels in food as like putting Dracula in charge of the blood bank".
In March last year, food industries were asked to voluntarily include labels on food products regarding health concerns. But only 10 top restaurants were found following that.
Prof. Capewell is a famous health expert dealing with the problems faced by heart due to the diet, affirmed that he no more trusts Mr. Lansley and the decisions taken by him on tackling the food industry and hence, the obesity epidemic.
He emphasized that Mr. Lansley, as per his views, should be guilty of the unpleasant neglect he has shown towards the concerns of the public health. Further, he accused Mr. Lansley of bringing the British community back to the initial point.
