Controversy over New Family Structures Study by Dr. Regnerus

A study published previously in the journal Social Science Research by sociologist Dr. Mark Regnerus had claimed that gay-parenting is bad and children are not properly brought up by same-sex couples, a recent report finds. But, the same had given rise to outrage amongst gay activists, which has now been exposed as the author has agreed upon the claims.

The activists say that the methodology followed by the author to carry out the New Family Structures study was completely wrong. An inquiry was also called by the opponents, which said that investigation was not necessary.

Gay activists are saying that there is no difference in children’s success in case they are looked after by same-sex parents or a mother and father. And the study reading people spending their childhood with mother and father are more likely to succeed is worth criticism only. It was even in the review that children of gay parents experience worse childhoods.

Jim Wallace, Australian Christian Lobby Managing Director, is however of the opinion that the clearance of the author is great achievement for academic freedom. He is even urging Federal MPs and Senators to consider the same study being the first of its kind. “This is a big social experiment that same-sex marriage may not be in the best interests of children”, he said.
