Non-stick cookware was always considered the best for cooking as it does not require much oil or other lubrication to cook food. But, a recent study has linked them to heart disease.
Yes, US researchers have recently discovered that the chemicals that are present on non-stick cookware can cause anyone a heart problem.
On the other hand, a warning has been raised by the Australian experts in this regard. According to them, there are increasing levels of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) in the blood that are associated with the occurrence of cardiovascular diseases. And these PFOAs can be easily found in polishes, lubricants, food packaging and even the non-stick cookware.
However, it is not necessary that cardiovascular diseases are caused by food only; by drinking water and inhaling air; also, these can be caused because these chemicals are available in them too.
For conducting this study, researchers analyzed the levels of this chemical in 1,216 people; all suffering from heart problems. No matter, what age, sex, weight or habit like smoking or drinking the person was associated to; the findings were similar.
According to the authors from the West Virginia University School of Public Health, these results contributed to the data that was raised after reviewing the health effects of perfluoroalkyl chemicals, but it failed to prove that the chemicals actually caused heart problems.
