A group of researchers at the Manchester University's Faculty of Life Sciences says that the agony of arthritis is not as difficult to treat as thought previously. Soaking oneself in a bath of salt water can help and in an effective manner, as per a report.
It is being said that a number of patients can now raise its hopes to improve the condition. Since, painful inflammation of the joints can be significantly reduced with the help of saline solution.
Arthritis sufferers' were tested by the group, which has found that the patients' body cells expand, though the swelling can be diminished by dehydrating cells in salt water. As per the findings, whether the salt enters the body via an injection or is absorbed through the skin using saline-soaked bandages, the effects are the same.
Besides, Vincent Compan and colleagues are of the opinion that ordinary table salt in high concentrations can work well. Since, the method would for sure be better than conventional drugs, which cause side effects and should be avoided.
"Hypotonic solutions (low in salt) activate inflammation at molecular level. Conversely, the use of hypertonic solutions (high in salt) was a potent inhibitor of such inflammatory signals at molecular level", Dr. Pablo Pelegrin affirmed.
