DuPage County has been realizing an outbreak of West Nile virus, as per a new report. While some 25 people were found to have contracted the virus, health officials' concerns have risen significantly with a third death in the region due to the same.
Yes! It was confirmed on Monday that a third person had had to face death since he had contracted the infection caused by mosquitoes. Though, previously, two deaths were noted with one other in Illinois. Some 94 cases were found in Illinois till September 18.
Following the same however, 48 states have come up with reports regarding the virus contraction. Not only humans, but a number of birds and mosquitoes have also been found as infected. The Centers for Disease Control and Infection says that the current death totals the number of deaths in Illinois to four.
And the total affected cases are 3,142 with 134 deaths in the US, including Carol Stream, Lisle, Naperville, Bloomingdale, Addison and some other areas. It is being said that the number is the highest since 2003 and is worrisome.
It is being suggested that people should use insect repellent with an EPA-registered active ingredient, while outdoors. Also, windows should have good screens so that mosquitoes remain out and one should wear long sleeves with pants, say experts.
