Iran Removes Ban from Access to Gmail

A recent report has unveiled that Iran is now free of any kind of restrictions on access to Gmail. The restrictions had been imposed almost a week before.

Everyone was banned from using the Google email service's secure version. However, the telecommunications ministry committee was intended at blocking the YouTube, Gmail had also been banned. But, it is being said that the same was essential.

It has been found that YouTube had been blocked from any use in the year 2009 only. And the ban on the same is still continuing. The people in Iran cannot access the Google's video-sharing site and as per the findings, the aim of the committee is to make it inaccessible down the road as well.

A member was quoted as saying, "That is why the telecommunications ministry is seeking a solution to fix the problem to block YouTube under the HTTPS [Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure] protocol while leaving Gmail accessible".

Mohammad Reza Miri says that though, they do not have a technical know-how about the two distinct services. The ban came into effect last week co-incidentally coincided with protests against an anti-Islamic film posted on YouTube.

Faramarz, from Qazvin believes that Google may face some losses due to the ban, but the same is anyhow vital.
