Hydroxycut Diet Pill Off Shelves Due Safety Concerns

 Iovate Health Sciences

The Food & Drug Administration (FDA) is warning consumers to immediately stop using Hydroxycut products which are dietary supplements manufactured by Iovate Health Sciences, Inc., and have been linked to serious liver injuries and at least one death said attorneys at Morgan & Morgan.

The Ontario-based company that makes the dietary supplements said out of "an abundance of caution" it has agreed to recall 14 products in the U. S. According to the FDA it has received 23 reports of serious health problems, including the death of a 19-year-old boy in 2007 which was reported to the F. D. A. this March. The health problems reported include jaundice, elevated liver enzymes, and liver damage was so severe that in some cases a liver transplant was required.

Seizures, cardiovascular disorders, and rhabdomyolysis were other health problems that were linked to the usage of Hydroxycut. Although the serious liver problems suffered by some Hydroxycut users appear to be rare, anyone taking these products could be at risk.

Common symptoms of liver disease are jaundice and brown urine with nausea, vomiting, light-colored stools, unusual tiredness, weakness, stomach pain, or loss of appetite being other symptoms. People who have used Hydroxycut and are experiencing any of these symptoms, are advised to see your healthcare provider as soon as possible.

A free legal consultation for victims who are interested in learning more about their legal rights is being offered by Morgan & Morgan's Hydroxycut lawyers. Hydroxycut is advertised as made from natural ingredients and is available in grocery stores and pharmacies with at least nine million packages sold last year according to the F. D. A.

In a statement posted on its website, drug maker Iovate Health Sciences said keeping in mind the millions of people who have used Hydroxycut products, the number of reported problems is small.

It added that it's issued a voluntary recall because consumer safety is its top priority.

The Hydroxycut products Iovate has agreed to recall from the market are, Hydroxycut Regular Rapid Release Caplets, Hydroxycut Caffeine-Free Rapid Release Caplets and Hydroxycut Hardcore Liquid Caplets. Hydroxycut Max Liquid Caplets, Hydroxycut Regular Drink Packets, Hydroxycut Caffeine-Free Drink Packets, Hydroxycut Hardcore Drink Packets (Ignition Stix) and Hydroxycut Max Drink Packets.

Hydroxycut Liquid Shots, Hydroxycut Hardcore RTDs (Ready-to-Drink), Hydroxycut Max Aqua Shed, Hydroxycut 24, Hydroxycut Carb Control and Hydroxycut Natural.
