LaCie introduces two new 'Big'-brand products - 2big Network and 5big Network!

After its recent foray into the cloud storage market with the acquisition of Wuala, and the last week launch of the d2 Network and Big Disk Network, LaCie is already well on its way to expand its network storage products.

On Monday, LaCie announced a noteworthy upgrade to its ‘Big’-brand lineup of products with the introduction of two new Network Attached Storage (NAS) systems - the 2big Network and the 5big Network. Both of the newly-introduced products boast of highly-developed features, wide-ranging backup support, and flexible storage expansion.

The 2big Network, available at a $320 starting cost, is a two-bay RAID system, which can support a storage capacity of up to 4 terabytes (TB); and is fitted with a Gigabit Ethernet port, UPnP and DLNA support. Featuring capabilities like Windows Active Directory Support and local backup, the device is shipped with client licenses for Intego Backup Manager Pro for the Mac, and is attuned to the Time Machine feature from Leopard.

On the other hand, the $800-priced 5big Network comprises five hot-swappable drive bays, supporting seven RAID modes. It comes with up to 10 TB storage capacities; features a Gigabit Ethernet connection; works as an iTunes server. Since this UPnP-AV compatible product works with any DLNA device; it facilitates the streaming of audio and video content to both game consoles as well as compatible televisions.
