Cheddar Cheese contains more salt than Pack of Crisps: Cash
Cheddar and many other forms of cheese, which act as staple diet of more than 98% Britons, has been found to be containing excessive amount of salt. A research was carried out by the Consensus Action on Salt and Health (Cash).
They have found that the cheddar cheese contains more salt than a packet of chips contain. A number of other cheese, which were found to be containing excessive amount of salt are roquefort, halloumi, processed cheese slices and feta.
The study researchers said in order to consume less amount of salt, it is better that either people should avoid having the same or have it in small amount. In order to reach at the above given conclusion, the study researchers said they have carried out a survey on 772 cheese products available in the market.
To name the cheese product company, which had maximum amount salt was of Morrisons: Smooth & Tangy Farmhouse cheddar. Katharine Jenner, who is positioned as a Cash campaign Director, said, "This survey shows that just one portion of cheese can contain more salt than a packet of crisps, so it's worth looking at the label and choosing a lower-salt version".
