With the aim of providing more pertinent search-results, Google Tuesday announced a string of new search products - including Google Search Options, Google Squared, and Rich Snippets, along with an astrology-related Android app.

During a presentation at Google's headquarters in Mountain View, Marissa Mayer - the company's Vice President of Search Products and User Experience - said that the idea behind the release of the new products is to modernize Google search with a streak of relevance.

Talking about the Google Search Options, Mayer said that it is a "rich set of tools that let you slice and dice your results." Featuring a timeline that depicts the popularity of the topic searched over time; the product also boasts of a particular 'Wonder Wheel' feature related to search results.

Google Squared is a Labs project that also helps users drill down their search results. It allows for addition or deletion of results, thereby producing the most functional "square" of information that users can save to your Google account for future reference.

While Rich Snippets intends providing users with more handy information in the blurbs found below the URL on the search results page; the Sky Map Android app allows users to search for particular stars or constellations, with the help of GPS and the compass sensors in G1 phones.
