Cuba and California Sees Fireballs in Sky after Reports of Meteor in Russia

A bright light in the sky was witnessed by citizens of Cuba on Tuesday. It was accompanied with a deafening flare-up that shuddered windows and walls. No injuries have been reported.

Near Cienfuegos in the city of Rodas, some eyewitnesses explained the light as "bigger than the sun". Another resident, who seemed to be awed by the scene, said that they had never seen an event like this.

Some unconfirmed reports were also heard in various parts of San Francisco Bay. Scientists have been working to decipher the object.

One of the scientists at Chabot Space and Science Center, Gerald McKeegan, an astronomer, said that the telescope at the centre failed to see the object.

These reports came after meteor's outburst in Russia. In this explosion, more than 1,000 people were injured. Even the much awaited asteroid's shove with earth was seen.

Asteroid named as 2012 DA 14 came close to earth and is seen in every 40 years but strikes the planet in 1,200 years.

Scientists have reported that almost 9,500 celestial bodies of different sizes that pass near the earth.

A close ally of President Vladimir Putin wrote, "Instead of creating a (military) European space defence system, the United States should join us and China in creating the AADS - the Anti-Asteroid Defence System".
