Going by Microsoft's Scott Austin's conversation with reporters about Xbox Live, the company is looking at updating Xbox Live in a quite a few ways, in an attempt to make the process of finding and buying content much easier.
Austin said that Microsoft intends pricing games in the local currency, thereby completely bypassing the point system, and enabling buyers to buy games using a credit card. Furthermore, to facilitate the browsing of the content, all content in the marketplace this summer will follow a simple five-star rating scheme. This will help users identify the five-star rated Xbox Live Arcade games or game add-ons, and set aside the somewhat low-quality releases.
In another bit of good news, Austin said: "We're going to have 30 or more games launching in August, worldwide, in all markets. We'll also be adding new content in all of our markets weekly." Austin made a reference to the 'Games on Demand' service, which will allow users to buy full-sized, big-name titles straight from Xbox Live and download them to their consoles.
The proposed updates and additions will help Microsoft reinforce Xbox Live as a digital distribution platform. With the simplified process of buying full games sans the point system and initiation of community feedback in the form of rating, the Microsoft Xbox has truly evolved in terms of user-friendliness!
