As per an Apple revelation at its World Wide Developers Conference, the MacBook Pro lineup will have a new addition - the 13-inch MacBook Pro notebook. The proposed new notebook will essentially be a re-branded, premium version of the white polycarbonate MacBook.
The new 13-inch offering - which has been designed to give customers the look and power of a MacBook at a fairly economical price - will be available at two different price points: the white Macbook with a starting price of $999, and a unibody notebook starting at $1,199. Both the versions of the 13-inch MacBook Pro are presently available for order.
Among the specs, the base model 13-inch MacBook Pro is powered by a 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor; and has the backlit LED display with 1280 x 800 resolution; as well as 2 GB of DDR 3 memory - expandable to 8 GB of DDR3 - and a 1066 front-side bus.
In addition, the notebook supports one FireWire 800 port; two built-in USB 2.0 ports and an SD slot. Wireless connectivity is handheld by an integrated AirPort Extreme
802.11n wireless card and Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR.
Equipped with an integrated NVIDIA GeForce 9400M for graphics, the base model has 160 GB storage capacity. Users going in for customization of the notebook can select storage space from 120-250 GB to 250, 320, or 500 GB HDD; or 128 GB or 256 GB SSD.
