Verizon updates FiOS Mobile app to allow customers to view live TV away from hom

Bigwig US carrier Verizon has revealed in a recent announcement that it has updated the multi-platform FiOS Mobile app to version 2.0. The updated version of the app allows FiOS TV customers to view up to 9 select live TV channels while away from home.

Announcing the FiOS Mobile app update on Friday, Verizon said that it is setting 9 stations free from home Wi-Fi; with customers in certain cities – including New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Washington, D. C. - also getting the ability to watch their local news and weather.

Verizon further added that, as a result of the new update, subscribers in the mentioned cities will be able to access to local live local network programming from ABC, CBS, Fox NBC, Univision, and UniMas. Moreover, depending on the customers’ service package, some national channels which will be immediately available include BBC America, BBC World News, and EPIX, among others.

In addition, the updated FiOS Mobile app also gives subscribers access to select On Demand titles anywhere outside their home from networks like Starz and Encore. Subscribers can also rent or buy more than 45,000 Flex View titles in or away from home via the FiOS Mobile app.

About the updated FiOS Mobile app, Maitreyi Krishnaswamy - director of FiOS TV’s consumer video services – said: “We’ve tried to offer a little something for everyone in this initial offering from the do-it-yourselfer to the football super fan to the moviegoer, and this is just the beginning.”
