Female employee of Arlington County App Store shot at and wounded

The Arlington Police Department has confirmed that a 26-year-old female employee of an Apple store in Arlington County was shot at in the right shoulder, and wounded on Friday morning.

Going by reports, the wounded employee is recovering in an area hospital, and is stated to be in a serious yet stable condition.

According to the police, the shooting incident occurred about 10:15 a.m., in a back storeroom of the Apple store in the busy, upscale outdoor shopping area - 2700 Clarendon Blvd. Since the incident took place shortly after the store had been opened for the day, there were a few customers present in the store; and employees helped them leave the place.

Detective Crystal Nosal of the Arlington Police Department told CNET that the armed suspect rang the doorbell at a back service entrance of the store, and shot at the female employee who opened the door. Though some media channels are terming it a case of an attempted armed robbery, Detective Nosal said that it was “still too early to tell” the reason behind the incident.

About the description of the suspect, the police said that he is a 35-45 years old, medium-built black man, supporting facial hair. The man, who was carrying a handgun, was clothed in a light-colored short sleeve shirt, light-colored pants, and a dark baseball hat.
