IBM launches a suite of new security tools and services for businesses
On Monday, IBM launched a suite of new security tools and services to help businesses protect themselves against data theft.
The new suite of security tools and services launched by IBM includes IBM Threat Protection System product suite and the Critical Data Protection Program set of IT services. IBM has launched the new security solutions after investing in organic development for nearly two years; and after its acquisition of companies like Q1 Labs, Trusteer, Guardium, Watchfire, Ounce Labs, and Fiberlink/MaaS360.
The new Threat Protection System launched by IBM includes a new Trusteer Apex tool which has been designed for zapping malware in endpoints and improvements to the IBM Network Protection security appliance for protection against attacks. IBM can monitor this suite from its security operations centers on behalf of businesses that purchase it.
The other new suite, the IBM Critical Data Protection Program, includes a set of consulting and IT services which have been designed to ensure the safety of a business' most valuable data, including intellectual property, merger and divestiture plans, and confidential board communications. This suite of services can help businesses define, find and secure this data.
About the new security tools and services, IBM said in a Monday statement that the new products go beyond perimeter firewalls and signature-based defenses. The behavioral analytics and other advanced methods used in the new suites can help protect businesses against zero-day attacks, data breaches, as well as general and targeted attacks.
