Steve King questions contributions to civilizations by groups besides whites
Republican Representative Steve King from Iowa has made some outrageous comments on the racial issue at a time when the US is witnessing a spate of race related killings of civilians and police officers.King made a statement questioning contributions of Western civilization by any sub-group other than white people. He was speaking during a discussion on racial matters on a television channel on Monday.
Esquire editor-at-large Charlie Pierce, who was also present for the discussion, said that there will be several unhappy and dissatisfied white people at the Republican National Convention, who would not tolerate party rebellion. There were some concerns when opponents of Donald Trump attempted to derail his nomination.
King said that he is tired of the blames on "white people" and went on to indicate that white people are responsible for most of the good in the world.King: "I'd ask you to go back through history and figure out where are these contributions that have been made by these other categories of people that you're talking about. Where did any other subgroup of people contribute more to civilization?"
The host of the show asked him, "Than white people?" then King replied stating that the Western civilization is based on western Europe, eastern Europe and the United States of America as well as 'every place where the footprint of Christianity settled the world. That's all of Western civilization'.
The host of the show concluded the argument at that point in an effort not to take the discussion further on the history of Western civilization.
