AT&T may soon announce its decision on potential Galaxy Note 7 sales/replacement stoppage
According to a Bloomberg report, bigwig US wireless carrier AT&T may soon announce its final decision on the potential termination of sales and replacement of Samsung's ill-fated Galaxy Note 7 handsets.
The report, citing an unidentified source familiar with the matter, said that currently the returns of the Galaxy Note 7 handsets are being processed by AT&T, which will issue alternative smartphones in place of the potentially- explosive devices.
Meanwhile, with regard to the replacements of the Galaxy Note handsets, a Wall Street Journal report has revealed that all the leading wireless carriers are replacing the Note 7 units, with other handsets, for their customers.
The replacement units include even those Note 7 handsets which have already been replaced as part of the replacement program announced by Samsung in September, while issuing a worldwide recall of the devices due to explosive batteries.
Galaxy Note 7 is Samsung's newest flagship Note handset which was launched by the company in August. However, soon after its launch, reports of exploding batteries started emerging in South Korea. Subsequent reports about Note 7 battery explosions prompted Samsung to issue a global recall of all the nearly 2.5 million units sold by the company within a couple of weeks of the handset's launch.
