Though Apple's new Snow Leopard is set for its official launch today - that is, August 28, 2009 -, Amazon has already announced "Super Saver" shipping on all the versions of the OS!
Under a unique program called "Up to date", for all those users who purchased a Mac from the App Store or any other Apple authorized reseller on or after June 8, 2009, the Snow leopard will be available at a reduced upgrade price of a mere $9.95 till December 26, 2009; thereby translating into a 66 percent reduction in the earlier announced upgrade price of $29!
For all other prospective buyers, the price of the Mac OS X Snow Leopard upgrade version has been slashed by 14 percent - from $29 to $25.
In addition the price of the 5-user Family Pack edition has been cut by 10 percent, from $49 to $44; and that of the Box Set Family Pack (non-upgrade) has been cut from $229 to $199. Even the Mac OS X 10.6 Server has undergone an 11 percent price-reduction, to $445.
Meanwhile, noting that Apple Specialist Marketing Co-op (ASMC) - a group comprising independent, authorized Apple resellers - intends marking the much-awaited launch of the Snow Leopard via a string of sales and special events, ASMC director Kevin Langdon said: "Each dealer has created their own unique specials to suit their customers and their communities."
