Opera launches its new version of Internet browser – Opera 10

Opera 10

Opera 10 - that is the new version of the Opera browser, which, three months after the beta first appeared on June 3, has been made available for download for Windows, Linux, and Mac! Redesigned and enhanced with new features, the Opera 10 not only promises faster downloads, but also works more speedily on resource-intensive pages like Facebook and Gmail.

Having released its cross-platform Opera 10 browser on Tuesday, the Norway-based Opera Software said: "We have worked a lot on Opera Turbo technology and have also made major improvements on the overall product stability. This is the most stable Opera browser yet."

According to Opera Software's claims, the Opera Turbo - the new browser's much-touted compression engine - increases the speed of the browser by nearly eight times the speed of rival browsers, in the case of slow connections.

Other notable improvements in the Opera 10 version include an expanded 'Speed Dial' for displaying the commonly-visited Web pages; customization with a background picture; spell check for 51 languages, and any text area; and a built-in e-mail client threading e-mail conversations.

While Opera is engaged in battle of sorts with rivals Google Chrome and Apple Safari for the third spot in the browser market, and has a fairly small global market share, its mobile browser is the most extensively-used browser on handsets.
