LG Electronics, world's second-largest manufacturer of liquid-crystal-display televisions after Samsung electronics, is expecting the sales of its LCD TVs to rise by around 47 per cent in 2010 owing to growing demand in the emerging markets.
South Korea-based LG has predicted to sell 25 million LCD TVs during the next year, up from nearly 17 million units by the end of 2009.
Speaking on the topic, Simon Kang, CEO of LG's home entertainment unit, said, "Developing countries such as the BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China) will likely post double digit percent growth."
Sales of LG's plasma TVs are expected to increase to 4 million in the next year, up 33 per cent. LG also hopes to sell 300,000 to 400,000 LED TVs by the end of the current year.
It may be noted here that LG has disclosed "BORDERLESS", which do away with the seam between the screen and the surrounding bezel.
Earlier, Samsung had said that its sales would be higher in 2010 as compared with the current year figures.
Japan's Sony Corp is also expecting to sell approximately 17 million LCD TVs in 2009 and 25 million in the next year.
During April-June quarter, LG, Samsung and Sony accounted for 11.8 per cent, 18.8 per cent and 10.7 per cent of global LCD TV shipments respectively.
