The recently-released Facebook application for the Android platform, though not much of a smash-hit at an initial glance, is definitely a notable one - simple yet streamlined! This 'specifically for the Android' Facebook application comprises some attention-grabbing features for its definite distinction from the other mobile Facebook apps.
Along with enabling the users to install a status update widget on their home screen, the Facebook app for Android also opens up an array of shortcuts if a particular wall item is tapped and held - like it allows for commenting or liking a post; providing view of links in browser; or viewing the user's wall or profile.
The singular app also provides users the advantage of uploading new pictures 'on the go', as well as helping them personalize a ringtone for Facebook notifications.
Another seemingly 'cool' characteristic of the new Android Facebook app is the 'Facebook Phonebook Live Folder,' which the users can install on their home screen to make convenient calls to their friends whose phone numbers feature on Facebook list.
However, some of the infuriating limitations of the new app include the lack of a search feature to sift information on friends or favorite pages, as well as support for Inbox and FB Chat. Moreover, some selections on the wall can be rather irritating as they take the user out of the app and into the browser!
