Nokia to offer telecom services

Nokia, leading handset manufacturer in the world, is going to jump into the arena of telecom services & solutions.

Nokia, which has been facing tough competition from Research in Motion and Apple, has plans to offer a range of services & solutions such as music download, games and financial services.

The handset-maker will also provide Indian farmers with information about prices and weather.

Speaking about 'Nokia Money Service,' D Shivakumar, Managing Director of Nokia India, said, "The service would enable consumers to send money, pay for goods, services and bills, and recharge their prepaid SIM cards using their mobile phone."

Nokia has penned an agreement with Facebook on location based service deal, which will allow users to update their location plus status straight on Facebook using a Nokia Ovi account.
