Adobe’s Flash Platform Services for Distribution to be launched on Monday

In an attempt to boost its deployment of Web applications and become a 'one-stop shop' for web developers, Adobe Systems will Monday introduce its planned line of cloud-based services - namely Abode Flash Platform Services.

Adobe, whose Flash Platform is already a popular format for delivering web content, noted that the new platform will feature online, hosted services that will help Flash developers add capabilities to Web applications, by making use of a cost-efficient deployment model.

While the first platform, Adobe Flash Platform Services for Distribution, will become available Monday onwards; the other, Adobe Flash Platform Services for Social, will be available later this year.

According to Abode, the Distribution service would pertain to application distribution; while Social will use the capabilities of social networks, in order to help build an application around status updates, profile information, and connections.

With the help of the Distribution service - for which Abode has partnered with social media applications distributor Gigya -, advertisers and content publishers would be able to monetize applications across social networks, desktops, and mobile devices. Abode will enable the service in Flash Professional (CS) Creative Suite 4, Dreamweaver (CS 4), and Flex technology.

Noting that the service can help developers get wide distribution, Adrian Ludwig, Adobe's group manager for the Flash platform, said that, for game builders or advertisers, "It can be a challenge to get that large audience."
