T-Mobile customers found themselves in the doldrums when their Danger Sidekick devices lost data services, making customers lose access to their address books, calendars plus other services that were stored in the cloud by the Danger owner Microsoft.
On Saturday, Microsoft stated that data not recovered thus far might be lost for ever.
T-Mobile and Microsoft issued a statement, saying the probability of a successful recovery of the lost data is extremely low.
Though Danger is possessed by Microsoft, a supporter of cloud-based computing, where data is stored and possibly reproduced across many services, apparently just one server was used.
Both the companies have strongly advised users not to discharge or remove the sidekick battery as that would eliminate the other stored data from the Sidekick's memory.
The recent problem has slandered the image of Danger that touted the server-based model as one that promised an advantage over its competitors.

No surprise here!!
I don’t even know why this received any press at all. No one should be surprised at this problem, it is yet another example of microsoft’s ineptness and doing what they are supposed to be good at….programming and running computers. Any user of Microsoft products knows that the frequency of updates and corrections to any of their programs is enough to convince even the most die hard supporter that something is wrong with this company. Not to mention the crashes and freezes that are a daily event if not more frequent. How they became the most popular word, spreadsheet and presentation program and operating system I will never know. In each case, there were clearly better programs out there. (wordperfect, lotus, mac, etc.) So, why did ms win???? The only possible reason I can see is that they bullied their way to the top through their contract with IBM. I just don’t see any other reason. But regardless, my feeling is anyone who buys a Microsoft product should just accept the fact that the quality is not there and their data is at risk of something like this .
